Workshop: At a Glancing Blow – An introduction to stage combat

The Theatre on King is happy to present At a Glancing Blow, the next in it’s ongoing series of workshops for 2013.

Taught by Kenn Gibb, this workshop is designed as a glimpse into the forthcoming “Without A Scratch” series of stage combat workshops.
This energetic workshop will introduce integral skills for the beginner and intermediate stage fighter in order to ensure safety, precision, and entertainment on stage.
We will be touching on:
Sequencing and Mapping
Multiple strikes and kicks
The Knap and the Art of Breathing.
Comfortable clothing and drinking water are encouraged.
In the coming months the “Without a Scratch” series will consist of specialized workshops designed to broaden your knowledge and familiarity of these fundamental skills to further your stage combat career.
Future workshop topics to look forward to will include theatrical throws and take-downs, stylised joint locks, pratfalls, various weapon styles (including european long/short sword, fencing, katana, bo staff, and knife) and introduction to Fight Direction
