Bubbe’s Tapes

Bubbe’s Tapes

Nov 15-21
2021

Jon Hedderwick’s show explores the history and ongoing impacts of antisemitism in Canada. Whilst drawing on personal family experiences from the Russian Revolution, through the Holocaust, and beyond, as recounted by Jon’s Bubbie Sarah in cassette tape recordings she left behind.

Set in the family kitchen, as Jon prepares matzo ball soup, and waits for his daughter to return home from her first semester away at college, he has decided that it is finally time to give this story, and the tape, to her.

Joining Jon on stage is local poet Elizabeth Jenkins. EJ will open the show with a set of spoken word poetry focused on their own family history.
